1924-25 Aguilitas “Segundas”
Produced in 1924-25 for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand, the baseball cards are part of a large collection(900) of cards that featured other sports and various subjects. The set features 44 players from the Cuban Professional League. The front of the cards display a black and white photo of the player in a circular frame with the players name and the words Base Ball below. Many of the photos are the same used in the 1923-24 sets but a few picture players from the 1924-25 season. The cards can be differentiated from the 1926-27 Aguilitas set by the reference found in the back to the “Segunda Serie Artistica,” translated to the “Second Artistic Series.” The back also displays the card number (841 to 899) and an ad for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand. The cards measure 1 1/2” by 2 3/8”. Several Cuban and National Hall of Fame members Negro League stars can be found in the set. Click here for printable checklist (PDF)
